The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation has issued a statement on the current situation in Iran. In it, the member states of the organisation express serious concern about developments in the Middle East and the armed attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The countries associated with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) consider the use of force unacceptable. They stress that the current conflict can only be resolved through dialogue, on the basis of mutual respect and taking into account the legitimate interests of all parties. Such a course of action must be in accordance with international law and the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter. According to the Member States, this is the only viable solution.
At the same time, the SCO states stress the need to protect Iran's national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. They call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to immediately cease actions that could further escalate the situation. At the same time, they call on the United Nations and its Security Council to take immediate action to address acts that undermine international peace and security.
The SCO Member States also expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the attack and declared their solidarity with the Government and people of Iran.
