A closed-door meeting between the chief negotiators of Russia and Ukraine took place in Geneva, following the main round of diplomatic talks. The information was confirmed by Diana Davityanova, head of the service of the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council.
According to her, the Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council Rustem Umerov attended a separate meeting together with the Chairman of the faction of the ruling Servant of the Nation party in the Ukrainian Parliament David Arakhamiou. The Russian side was represented by the Adviser to the Russian President, Vladimir Medinsky, who also heads the Russian delegation.
Davityan said that after the main round of negotiations, a separate meeting was held between the delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by the chairmen of both delegations, i.e. Umerov and Medinsky, as well as Arakhamia.
A TASS news agency source from the negotiating group had earlier reported that Medinsky had held approximately two hours of private talks at the InterContinental Hotel before leaving Geneva. However, it was not specified at the time with whom he met. Medinsky subsequently confirmed that there had indeed been a meeting with the Ukrainian side in a closed format.
