At its meeting on Wednesday 8 October 2025, the government of Petro Fiala approved the loan of up to 200,000 tonnes of crude oil from the state's emergency reserves to Orlen Unipetrol. This will help bridge a supply shortfall that arose in October due to limited shipping capacity from the port of Trieste.
"Orlen requested the loan because it was not possible to transport the planned volume of oil. We have agreed that the borrowed quantity will be returned to stocks by the end of January next year at the latest," said the Prime Minister Petr Fiala. According to him, the move will ensure stable operation of Czech refineries and prevent a threat to the supply of fuel on the market.
At the same meeting, the government also approved National eHealth Strategy 2025-2035which is intended to significantly advance digitalization of the Czech healthcare system. The document envisages the creation of a modern eHealth system linking patients, doctors, insurance companies and state institutions.
"Digitisation of the healthcare system is crucial for the efficient functioning of the system and its long-term sustainability," Fiala said. The aim of the strategy is to build by 2035 secure and user-friendly digital environmentwhich will also allow cross-border sharing of health data within the EU.
Another approved material is National Cultural Policy 2026-2030+prepared by the Ministry of Culture together with the National Institute for Culture. The document contains ten objectives supporting creation, education, care for cultural memory and international presentation of Czech culture. According to the government, by 2030 the Czech Republic is to move towards an accessible, innovative and stable culturestrengthening the resilience of society.
The Cabinet also adopted Action Plan for the Tourism Development Strategy 2021-2030 for the period 2026-2027. to promote domestic and inbound tourismto strengthen his Sustainability a Competitiveness. The plan is also intended to help complete the recovery of the sector after the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.
