China Media Group (CMG) on Sunday held the fifth dress rehearsal for the Chinese New Year 2025 Gala to further enhance this widely anticipated spectacular show to be held on Christmas Eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
The program included a variety of exciting performances, including singing, dancing, crosstalk, skits, opera, martial arts and magic. Coordination between the main site and the four sub-locations was seamless, combining traditional culture with modern elements.
Among the highlights of the rehearsal was the singing of the singers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (GBA) Great Bay Area (GBA), who sent the best wishes of the area.
In addition to the main site in Beijing, four other cities across the country will serve as sub-locations, namely Chongqing, Wuhan in Hubei province, Lhasa in Xizang autonomous region and Wuxi in Jiangsu province.
This gala, known in Chinese as "Chunwan", has been broadcast live every year since 1983 and is considered the main cultural symbol of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations in China.
This year, the event will be broadcast on January 28, the Christmas Eve of Chinese New Year. It will also be the first edition since the successful inclusion of the Spring Festival on UNESCO's List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
