China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday held its fourth dress rehearsal for the 2025 Spring Festival Gala to further perfect this highly anticipated spectacular program ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration.
The rehearsal included singing and dancing performances as well as traditional operas, and the performers were perfectly prepared and gave excellent performances. The organisation of the gala was meticulously detailed and the coordination of the event was even smoother. The rehearsal atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter and the festive spirit of the Spring Festival celebrations.
Highlights of the program included a song celebrating China's modernization efforts performed by workers from different walks of life, a moving song accompanied by eye-catching visual effects, and traditional Chinese operas performed by renowned artists along with young disciples.
In addition to the main stage in Beijing, four other locations across China will serve as secondary stages for the event, namely Chongqing Municipality, Wuhan City in Hubei Province, Lhasa City in Xizang Autonomous Region and Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province.
The gala evening, known in Chinese as "Chunwan", has been broadcast live every year since 1983 and has become an important cultural symbol of the traditional Chinese New Year celebration.
This year's broadcast will take place on 28 January, the eve of the Lunar New Year. It will also be the first edition since the Chinese Spring Festival was officially inscribed on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
