Pupils and students took their seats in the classrooms in September. And in October, they were followed by professionals from the tourism industry. The Institute of Tourism of the CzechTourism Agency has once again launched the autumn part of the training series called the Tourism Academy. Professionals were thus treated to further training courses.
The Tourism Academy includes a series of workshops, trainings and lectures for employees of destination management organisations, tourist information centres, accommodation facilities and other entities operating in the tourism sector. The organisers carefully select individual topics with regard to current trends affecting tourism in the Czech Republic and worldwide.
In recent weeks, a course focused on working with artificial intelligence (AI) was held on two dates. This has long been an unknown topic in the Czech Republic. Including the tourism sector. With its help, even in this field, it is possible, for example, to evaluate data, create chatbots, automate repetitive activities, or work with AI as an assistant for copywriting.
Interest in training is growing

CzechTourism has long cooperated with Google in educating the professional public. "This practice allows us to support the development of digital skills in an important sector such as tourism. AI offers us countless opportunities to modernise and streamline this sector," adds the head of the Institute of Tourism of the Czech Tourism Centre - CzechTourism Petr Janeček.
Artificial Intelligence as the main topic
Artificial intelligence is one of the main topics of this autumn lecture series. The course entitled "Be more productive with AI" was attended by nearly three hundred representatives of the professional public - from destination organisations to tourist information centres and educational institutions. And they praise the quality of the lectures. This is also confirmed by the feedback they send to the organisers of the events. Among other things, they appreciate that the courses are inspiring and include concrete examples of good practice.
"As an experienced AI user, this talk was a welcome refresher on the basics. After attending specialized courses in the USA and following trends intensively, I appreciated the opportunity to update my knowledge in the context of the Czech market. It is commendable that CzechTourism is coming up with such an initiative, as AI education is a key differentiator for successful businesses and it is striking how sectors such as tourism and hospitality are lagging far behind. Any effort to change this is therefore more than desirable. I believe that CzechTourism is making a significant contribution to the digitalisation of the Czech tourism industry. In addition to training on artificial intelligence, CzechTourism offers other courses focused on data processing, marketing or digital guides.
