Our big project of Slavic Epic by Alfonz Mucha has finished. It is not easy to follow up on this unique project. Starting today, we are bringing you a series about another world-famous Czech artist, and we will be guiding you through the artwork of František Kupka, who became especially famous for his phenomenal abstract paintings. We wish you a pleasant experience.
František Kupka is one of the world's most important abstract painters. As he stated in his book Creation in the visual arts, he did not want to copy nature, but in a sense he wished to create like it. He looked for inspiration in the diverse shapes of nature, whether it was ice crystals, budding flowers, flowing lava, freezing steam, clouds, air currents or shooting stars. Kupka was fascinated by the shape analogies he found at various levels of microstructure and macrostructure, from microphotographs of cells to astronomical photographs of planets.
