International Ice Hockey Federation Announced by individual award winners and the all-star team of the tournament after the gold medal match at the 2025 World Junior Championships.
Ryan Leonard was named MVP. The American captain, who recorded five goals and five assists in a Champions jersey, received the inaugural Murray Costello Junior World Championship MVP award. Costello, a long-time IIHF Council member and former Hockey Canada president, passed away in the summer of 2024 at the age of 90. In recognition of his many accomplishments, the IIHF has decided to rename the MVP award in his honour. The first official presentation was made by Jim Costello, Murray's son.
"As an IIHF Life Member and member of the IIHF Hall of Fame, Murray had such a significant impact on hockey in Canada and around the world during his career," He said IIHF President Luc Tardif before the 2025 finals in Ottawa, Canada.
