MUNICH - The 189th Oktoberfest, one of Germany's largest folk festivals, kicked off Saturday in Munich, and Mayor Dieter Reiter traditionally hit the first keg of beer.
From Saturday onwards, visitors could enjoy beer provided by renowned Munich breweries, as well as festival parades, local refreshments and entertainment facilities.
The festival, whose history dates back to the 19th century, is now visited by six million people from all over the world every year.
According to the organizer, the price of beer at Oktoberfest 2024 ranges from €13.60 (US$15.2) to €15.30, an average of 3.87 % more than in 2023.
