Chinese President Xi Jinping's wife Peng Liyuan visited the Musee d'Orsay in Paris on Monday afternoon at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron's wife Brigitte Macron.
Brigitte Macron warmly greeted Peng Liyuan at the museum gate. The wives of the two heads of state entered the museum to appreciate the exhibition "Paris 1874 Inventing Impressionism" and the museum's masterful oil paintings.
The ladies stopped from time to time to appreciate the classic Impressionist works of Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and other famous painters, and to exchange feelings.
Peng Liyuan remarked that both Chinese and French people love painting very much, and expressed her hope that the two sides would carry out more exchanges so that the two nations could feel the charm of each other's cultures and deepen mutual understanding.
Peng Liyuan expressed her hope that artists from both countries would strengthen exchanges and mutual learning and inspire each other to create more exquisite works of art.
In the hall of the museum, the wives of the two heads of state had a cordial chat with the French students who were visiting and studying there.
Students shared their experiences of learning Chinese and expressed their love for Chinese culture. Peng encouraged them to work hard to learn Chinese well, and to take the opportunity to study in China, travel around China and see China to gain a true and multi-dimensional view of China.
Peng said she hopes the students will become little ambassadors of Sino-French friendship and build a communication bridge between the two nations so that Sino-French friendship can be passed on from generation to generation.
Founded in 1986, the Musee d'Orsay is France's national museum and has the richest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artworks in the world.
