On Friday, the classic game was inaugurated The Miser by Jean-Baptiste Poquelin - Molière. Molière, the greatest classic of the French comedy stage, wrote what is arguably his most famous comedy in 1668. Although it didn't make much of a splash when it first premiered, it soon went viral around the world and is still one of the most performed and popular comedies of the time.
The widower Harpagon lives in his house surrounded by his family and servants, but he is not happy. His only desire and passion is money. And although he is rich (or perhaps because of it), he is also incredibly stingy, and his whole existence is dominated by the fear of losing his money. One day, his greatest fear comes true and the money box disappears. Who stole it? His children, his son Cleanthes and daughter Eliska, whom Harpagon wants to marry, but not according to their wishes? Valér, the secretary, who wants to court Eliška? The matchmaker Frosina, whom Harpagon doesn't want to pay? Young Marianne, whom Harpagon's son is courting but he would prefer to marry himself? Or one of the hard-working and all-powerful servants?
