UPDATE
The World Biathlon Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, prepared a wonderful dramatic race with an unexpectedly great ending for the Czech relay team, which won silver medals behind today's unbeatable France! What didn't work at last year's home championships, now worked in the very first race. Without exception, all members of the Czech relay team - Jessica Jislová, Tereza Voborníková, Vítězslav Hornig and Michal Krčmář- showed very good running and shooting, overall the fifth best running performance 58 seconds behind the winning France and the fourth best shooting without a penalty lap.
After the total failure of the favoured women of Norway and Sweden, the Czechs were hovering around the medal positions from the first section, but in the end Krčmář was up against the Germans and Italians who dropped out on the last shot. In the final circuit, the most experienced Czech incredibly swept past Germany's Strelow, resisting the pressure of the Scandinavian favourites in the back, and further improved the bronze medal our relay team held after the second and third passes to the final silver.

The Czech mix held the top positions throughout the race. Finisher Michal Krčmář went into the last lap in third place, 20 seconds behind Strelow of Germany. However, thanks to his heroic running performance, he was able to celebrate silver with his teammates in the finishing straight.
It is the 26th medal for the Czech biathlon at the World Championships. The current balance of 6 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals puts us in 10th place in the historical tables. The mixed relay team won its fourth medal after the gold from Kontiolahti 2015 and bronzes from NMNM 2013 and Anterselva 2020. Michal Krcmar was also present at the last success and three other members of the relay team are enjoying their first medal from a big event.
