The China Media Group (CMG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) signed a long-term copyright agreement in Guangzhou today for the broadcast of the 2026-2032 Olympic Games.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the two sides by Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CMG, and Kirsti Coventry, chairwoman of the IOC. Thomas Bach, Lifetime Honorary President of the IOC, was present at the ceremony. The event also included the unveiling of the CMG logo for coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.

Shen Haixiong handed over the flag to the CMG broadcast and news team, technical support team and marketing team of the 15th China National Games. As a major broadcasting agency with exclusive rights to content on all media platforms, CMG will send a team of over 4,000 people for broadcasting and a news team of over 1,000 to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to provide viewers with world-class production and broadcasting of sporting events.
Shen stressed that the Olympic spirit is an important part of human civilization and is in line with China's goal of modernizing the state in a Chinese way and building a community with a common future for humanity. CMG plans to strengthen cooperation with the IOC in all fields and continue to promote the development of the Olympic movement through broadcasting major events and organizing sports and cultural events.

Kirsti Coventry said her visit to China was her first since taking up her post as IOC President. The signing of a long-term contract ahead of China's 15th National Games is of great significance and opens a new chapter of cooperation between the two sides. She expressed her expectation that thanks to CMG's cutting-edge production and broadcast technology and quality coverage, viewers around the world will enjoy the culminating festivities of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
At the same time, the official CMG logo for the coverage of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics was released.
