MOSCOW, Sept 23 - The annual "UPanda Cinema" project and BRICS film and cultural exchange kicked off here on Sunday with the participation of more than 900 representatives of media organisations, film institutions and youth groups from BRICS countries.
Organizers of the event said that cooperation in film and television is an essential part of cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and expressed the hope that the event will enable people in the BRICS countries to better understand China's development in the new era.
They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation, and to create an image of common friendship.
Andrey Denisov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said that thanks to the joint efforts of Russian and Chinese media, a "UPanda cinema" has been successfully launched in Russia, whose Chinese programmes have been welcomed by Russian viewers and praised by Russian critics.
Galina Kulikova, first vice-chairwoman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Association and recipient of the Chinese Friendship Medal, said the event will give Russian viewers the opportunity to learn more about China.
She added that this event will not only bring interesting TV programs to Russian viewers, but also convey the friendship and warmth of the Chinese people, and expressed her hope that this "BRICS Broadcasting Season" will bring cultural exchanges and cooperation among BRICS countries closer and deeper.
