PARIS, 26 July - The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics took place on the River Seine in Paris. For the first time, the Opening Ceremony will not take place in a stadium, but in the centre of the host city, Paris, and the river will serve as the main venue. The iconic landmarks of the French capital will be the focal point of the ceremony, which will last more than three hours. Some 6,800 athletes in 85 boats will ceremoniously sail 6 kilometres down the Seine River. The 2024 Olympic Games will run until 11 August. For Paris, it is the third Summer Games in its history. They were first held in 1900 and last held a century ago, in 1924.
