An international team led by Chinese scientists has implemented quantum secure communication over more than 12,900 kilometres between China and South Africa.

This new breakthrough in quantum technology demonstrates the potential for secure quantum communication on a global scale using the Jinan-1 microsatellite and compact ground stations.
