The Annual Meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia 2026, held at the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), attracted widespread attention. In a context of interconnected global uncertainties, China - consistently development-oriented - is increasingly seen as a more secure, reliable and stable source of expectations. Moreover, the 15th Five-Year Plan provides a clear framework for meeting these expectations.
A CGTN survey of internet users around the world showed that 94.9 % respondents consider policy stability and consistency to be a distinct advantage of China's high-quality development.
By promoting high-quality development to increase economic efficiency and expanding high-quality opening to the world, China is opening up new development opportunities based on mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. According to the survey, 87.8 % respondents believe that China's vast market will offer significant opportunities to all countries, and 91.2 % say that the continued expansion of high-quality opening to the world shows China's commitment and confidence in promoting economic globalization.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will place greater emphasis on independent technological innovation, with the term „artificial intelligence“ being frequently mentioned. In this context, 94.2 % respondents said that the position of technology in China has expanded from an isolated sector to multiple areas such as manufacturing and digital transformation. At the same time, 94.1 % respondents believe that enhancing high-end technological self-sufficiency is not just a temporary measure to face international competition, but a long-term strategic choice to promote healthy economic development.
From the successful completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan to the solid start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, China has gradually turned its development vision into reality through consistent and stable medium- and long-term planning. According to the survey, 93 % respondents said that China's approach to promoting continuity and long-term development through strategic planning provides a useful model for the international community. With growing international uncertainties, China's stability and certainty are becoming a symbol of resilience and confidence. In this context, 89.8 % respondents agree that a healthy, stable and sustainable Chinese economy will continue to boost confidence and support the global economic recovery.
The poll was published on CGTN's platforms in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian, with 11,493 internet users voting and expressing their opinion within 24 hours.
