The main economic and social development objectives for the year will be successfully met. The message delivered at China's most important annual economic conference acts as a "boost" for a global economy going through tough times. According to an online survey conducted by CGTN, 92.4 percent of respondents are optimistic about China's economic development and hope that China will continue to play a key role as an engine of global economic growth and bring greater certainty to the world economy.
As the world's second largest economy, China's economy is attracting considerable attention. As one CGTN viewer noted: "Any growth in China means continued and diversified goods, with people around the world watching China's economy as closely as they watch the development of the supermarkets associated with everyday life."
The economy grew by 4.8 % in the first three quarters of the year, which includes a continued increase in the number of foreign-invested start-ups, a significant increase in consumption and robust growth in merchandise trade. Recently released data showed a positive trend in China's economic outlook. In particular, the expansionary measures introduced in the third quarter of this year are regarded as "the most important economic reforms in China in recent years", leading to a clear economic recovery.
In the survey, 90.7 percent of respondents strongly affirmed the potential and resilience of the Chinese economy and expressed their belief that the long-term positive trend of the Chinese economy remains unchanged. Other respondents highlighted measures aimed at boosting consumption and improving investment efficiency. 88.2 percent of respondents said that consumer measures such as programs to replace old products with new ones reflect China's efforts to stimulate domestic consumption while actively improving the living standards of the population-an approach that other countries could emulate.
Despite slowing global economic growth, China's economic growth remains among the highest among major economies. In this regard, 89.4 percent of respondents said that this clearly shows that the global economic recovery cannot succeed without the steady development of China's economy, while 87.2 percent of respondents are eager to benefit from China's high level of opening up and participate in its development opportunities.
The conference reiterated the need to expand the high level of openness, to increase both autonomous and unilateral opening to the world. Since the beginning of this year, China has steadily expanded the number of countries with visa-free entry, providing greater convenience for international exchange and mobility of people, while promoting deeper cooperation between China and other countries. 93.2 percent of respondents approve of this and believe it shows China's determination to maintain a high degree of openness. As one CGTN viewer noted, "Not having to have a visa for short-term business trips to China is very helpful for international investors with business in China."
Against a backdrop of rising trade protectionism, China is actively promoting inclusive economic globalisation and ensuring that the benefits of development are shared equitably among all countries. As of this month, China is granting duty-free treatment to all products from LDCs with which it has diplomatic relations. In the survey, 91.9 percent of respondents praised China's practical steps in promoting South-South cooperation, believing that the initiative has contributed to the shared development of the Global South countries and highlighted China's efforts as a responsible power and its commitment to strengthening international cooperation.
The poll was published on CGTN's English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms and was voted on by over 5,142 people in 24 hours.
