TIANJIN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The National Immigration Administration (NIA) on Friday put into use a new version of the identity card for foreigners residing permanently in the People's Republic of China. The first batch of 50 new cards were issued on the same day to qualified foreigners whose applications for permanent residency were approved, the NIA said. Pass holders show the new version of permanent resident alien cards at the Exit and Entry Management Department of the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau in north China's Tianjin, Dec. 1, 2023.
These new pass holders come from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Russia, and have made outstanding contributions to China's socio-economic development. They include foreign high-level management and technical personnel who have been working in China for a long time, as well as foreign professors and scholars who have been teaching and conducting research at key universities and research institutions for a long time. The new card retains the basic style of the current version, but adds five-star elements symbolizing the Chinese national flag and optimizes the card's layout.
The new badge includes advanced anti-counterfeiting technology and modernises access to information storage and application management services. According to the NIA, the introduction of the new card is a specific measure to serve the country's high-standard opening and provide better services to foreign talent working and living in China.
