BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China's electronics manufacturing industry posted good results in the first four months of this year, thanks to steady production growth and a recovery in domestic and global demand.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the combined profit of large companies in the sector increased by 75.8 % year-on-year to 144.2 billion yuan (about 20.3 billion US dollars) in the January-April period.
In the same period, the total operating income of these companies was 4.67 trillion yuan, up 7.9 percent year-on-year.
The ministry attributes the strong expansion to good supply and demand side performance in the sector.
From January to April, the value added of industrial output of the major companies in the sector grew by 13.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year, 7.3 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of industrial output in the country.
According to customs data, China exported 44.01 million units of laptops in the first four months, up 9.6 percent year-on-year. Exports of mobile phones reached 241 million units, up 4.6 percent.
Significant companies in this industry are those with a main annual business turnover of at least 20 million yuan.
