BEIJING, Nov 15 - Chinese shares closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.55 per cent to 3,072.83 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.72 percent higher at 10,077.96 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices was 990 billion yuan (about 138 billion U.S. dollars), up from 893.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Gains were led by stocks in lithium mining, auto parts manufacturing, and iron and steel, while those shorting theatre and real estate suffered big losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style lineup of growth companies, gained 0.53 percent to close at 2,015.36 points.
