First Vice-Chairman of the KSČM and former MP Petr Šimůnek said that Europe is facing deep economic problems. According to him, it is mainly a lack of technically educated people, a lack of natural resources and expensive labour. Europe is therefore forced to import workers from third countries.
On the other hand, Asia, especially China, is a much stronger economy, according to Šimůnek. He recalled that while the European Union has about 300,000 key workers who can fundamentally move the economy, China and India alone have a combined population of nearly 3 billion. He stressed that China does not just rely on cheap labour, but has highly skilled professionals and a quality secondary education system.
Šimůnek also appreciated that China is very cleverly building international cooperation with Latin America, Africa and Russia, while at the same time maintaining good trade relations with the United States. In his words, China is a true economic hegemon on a global scale and the world should learn from it.
He concluded by expressing his wish that the Asian economy, and China in particular, would continue to prosper. „If China does well and remains on good neighbourly terms with the Czech Republic, we will do well too,“ Šimůnek concluded.
