China's economy maintains a steady pace in early 2026 while accelerating in innovation. This is indicated by the latest fiscal data, which shows strong growth in sales in high-tech sectors.
In the period from January 1 to March 25, the sales of these industries grew by 14.6 % year-on-year. A particularly strong performance was reported by both high-tech manufacturing firms, whose sales rose by 12.7 %, and technology services, with growth of 15.8 %.
The growing demand for artificial intelligence and computing power is playing a large role in this development. This is behind the explosive growth in integrated circuit design and manufacturing revenues.
Positive developments are also evident in the wider industry. Revenues in the manufacturing sector increased by 5.4 %, while the production of machinery and equipment grew even faster, namely by 6.3 %.
At the same time, the data shows that China is further accelerating its ecological transformation. Sales in the environmental protection sector grew by 9.6 % year-on-year. Clean energy generation is also strengthening significantly, already accounting for 36.3 % of total electricity sales, up 4.5 percentage points from a year ago.
