According to the preliminary results, in 2024, the production of the agricultural sector in the Czech Republic will reach a value of over CZK 172 billion and will decrease by 2.7 % year-on-year. Business income from agricultural activity increased by 22.0 % compared to 2023, but was strongly below average compared to the economic results of the previous ten years.
The output of the agricultural sector in 2024 decreased by 2.7 % compared to the previous year and reached a value of CZK 172.1 billion. Of this, crop production was CZK 89.4 billion (- 5.2 %) and livestock production CZK 70.5 billion (+ 0.5 %).
The decline in crop production was mainly due to a lower cereal harvest. Compared with the previous year, the harvests of wheat, rye and barley were down. Farm-gate prices fell for rye and barley, but rose for wheat. The value of cereal production decreased by 8.9 % year-on-year and that of industrial crops by 9.2 %, the main reason being the lower rapeseed harvest. Fruit and vegetable yields also decreased year-on-year.
In livestock production, cattle production increased by 6.4 % and milk production by 2.4 % last year compared to 2023, while pig production decreased by 3.9 %, poultry by 3.7 % and eggs by 10.2 %. On farms, production of slaughter cattle, slaughter poultry, milk and eggs increased year-on-year, while production of slaughter pigs was lower.
According to preliminary data, the value of intermediate consumption in 2024 fell by 3.0 % year-on-year to CZK 117.4 billion. Compensation of employees, on the other hand, increased by 2.0 % to CZK 39.0 billion compared to the previous year.
After a significant decline in 2023, business income from farming activities increases by 22.0 % year-on-year in 2024. According to the methodology for compiling the Aggregate Agricultural Account, it is currently estimated at C13.3 billion. It is lower by CK 6.3 billion compared to the average of the previous ten years.

The Aggregate Agricultural Account is compiled on the basis of an internationally comparable methodology applicable in EU Member States and describes the economic performance of the sector. The refinement of the results of the Aggregate Agricultural Account for 2024 will be published on 30 September 2025 (semi-final results).
