Consumer prices rose by 0.2 % month-on-month. This development was mainly influenced by higher prices in the recreation and culture section. Year-on-year, consumer prices rose by 2.7 % in February, 0.1 percentage point lower than in January.

Month-on-month, consumer prices rose by 0.2 % in February. In the recreation and culture section, prices for full-service holidays were higher by 5.0 % and prices for recreation and cultural services were higher by 0.9 %. In the home furnishings, household equipment section, prices of major household appliances in particular increased by 1.9 %. Price developments in the transport division were influenced by a 0.6 % increase in the price of fuels and oils. In the catering and accommodation division, prices of food services also increased by 0.6 %. In contrast, the month-on-month decline in the overall price level in February was mainly driven by prices in the food and non-alcoholic beverages division, where prices of pork fell by 4.3 %, fruit by 1.5 %, butter by 5.3 %, poultry meat by 2.0 % and soft drinks by 0.7 %. In the alcoholic beverages, tobacco section, wine prices were lower by 5.8 %, spirits by 3.5 % and beer by 1.3 %.
Aggregate prices of goods fell by 0.2 %, while prices of services rose by 0.7 %.

"February's annual consumer price growth reached 2.7 %. Price growth was recorded in all sections of the consumer basket, except for clothing and footwear. Year-on-year, consumer prices rose by 2.7 % in February, 0.1 percentage point less than in January. Slowdown annual price growth was mainly driven by prices in the transport division. Here, there was a deepening of the price decline in fuels and oils, whose prices were down by 3.9 % yoy in February (down by 0.4 % in January), partly due to their stronger month-on-month growth in February last year.
On a year-on-year basis price level increase prices in the food and non-alcoholic beverages section were again the most influential in February, with prices of semi-skimmed long-life milk rising by 12.3 %, eggs by 18.6 %, butter by 41.6 % and chocolate and chocolate products by 30.5 %. Second in order of influence were prices in the alcoholic beverages, tobacco section, where prices of spirits increased by 2.9 %, beer by 0.6 % and tobacco products by 9.5 %. Wine prices fell by 1.8 % year-on-year. In the food and accommodation division, prices of food services and accommodation services were higher by 4.9 and 8.7 % respectively. In the housing division, prices of rent on dwellings increased by 6.7 %, goods and services for the routine maintenance of dwellings by 3.5 %, water charges by 4.2 %, sewerage charges by 3.7 % and heat and hot water by 4.1 1 %. Electricity and natural gas prices decreased by 4.8 % and 7.9 % respectively. Prices in the clothing and footwear section continued to contribute to the year-on-year decline in the overall price level in February, with prices of clothing falling by 1.2 % and footwear by 5.1 %.
The cost of owner-occupied housing (imputed rent) rose by 3.1 % yoy (2.9 % in January), mainly due to the rise in new property prices. The aggregate consumer price index excluding the cost of owner-occupied housing was 102.7 %.
Aggregate prices of goods rose by 1.4 % and prices of services by 4.7 %.
The level of the core CPI to the 2015 base period average was 154.3 % in February (154.0 % in January).
The inflation rate, expressed as the increase in the average consumer price index over the past 12 months compared with the average of the previous 12 months, was 2.5 % in February (2.5 % in January).


Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP)
According to preliminary HICP calculations in February in the Czech Republic Monthly increased by 0.2 % and year-on-year by 2.8 % (2.9 % in January). According to flash estimates.
