The Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge recorded a record 156,000 passenger arrivals and departures on Friday, a daily record since the bridge opened in 2018.
The 55km-long bridge connects the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province. It is the longest bridge and tunnel sea crossing in the world.
According to border inspection authorities in Zhuhai, more than 454,000 travelers and more than 69,000 vehicles were recorded from Tuesday to Friday, the first four days of the Spring Festival holiday, up 22 percent and 32 percent respectively year-on-year.
The daily number of passengers at the port exceeded 100,000 for 50 days in 2024, ten times more than in 2023.
In 2024, more than 3 million vehicle trips with license plates from Hong Kong or Macau were recorded at the port, accounting for 55 percent of the port's total traffic.
