Many livestock farmers and local workers in Kokdala city in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have significantly higher incomes and better living conditions thanks to cooperative modern livestock farming.
Xinjiang Chuangjin Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese cattle producer, operates more than 10 modern breeding farms and facilities for the production of feed, organic fertilizer, dairy products and agricultural machinery, as well as slaughterhouses and packing plants.
One of the company's breeding facilities houses more than 10,000 cattle of various breeds in well-maintained, spacious premises. Healthy adult cattle bask in the sun and graze freely, while pregnant cows have private, comfortable 'villas'. Newborn calves receive attentive care in cosy, purpose-built stables.
The company invested two billion yuan ($280 million) to build breeding facilities covering a total area of 267 hectares.
Last year, the company sold more than 30,000 cattle to regions across the country, including Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan, Sichuan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Li said the company plans to breed 100,000 feeder cattle and 15,000 high-quality cattle by 2025, aiming to achieve sales revenue of 3 billion yuan and further increase the income of 16,000 households.
"I am very happy to work here. I have recommended many fellow villagers to our company and I believe our life will only prosper," Tuohedasheng said.
