Indispensable support
During the symposium, President Xi reiterated his unwavering commitment to the private sector, stressing that the basic policies for the development of the private economy have been incorporated into the national institutional system and that "this cannot and will not change."
Xi called for resolutely removing barriers that prevent enterprises from equal access to factors of production and fair competition in the market, for further opening up competitive infrastructure areas to different businesses in a fair manner, and for continued vigorous efforts to address the difficulties private enterprises face in obtaining affordable financing.
He also stressed the effective protection of the legal rights and interests of private companies and entrepreneurs in accordance with the law.
China has established an office under the country's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which specializes in promoting the development of the private economy.

Key measures include passing a law to support the private sector, launching a campaign to unify law enforcement involving enterprises, and setting guidelines for building a unified national market.
The NDRC on Tuesday pledged to further remove market access barriers and revise the negative market access list for private enterprises in a timely manner to encourage greater private sector participation in major national projects and programmes.
High quality development
President Xi also highlighted the role of private enterprises in advancing China's broader goals of technological innovation, promoting rural vitalization and improving people's well-being.
He called on entrepreneurs to focus on high-quality development, invest in their core activities, strengthen their innovation capacity and increase their core competitiveness.
Foreign media noted the high participation of technology giants such as Huawei, BYD and Unitree Robotics at the symposium.

The sector also accounts for more than 70 percent of China's technological innovation success. Among the country's "small giants" - a term referring to the modern elite of small and medium-sized enterprises that specialize in a particular market niche, possess cutting-edge technologies and show great potential - the share of private enterprises exceeded 80 percent.
From the "new trinity" driving global green transformation and e-commerce benefiting users around the world, to the viral success of DeepSeek and robotics, to the international acclaim of "Black Myth: Wukong" and "Ne Zha 2", Chinese private enterprises have propelled the country forward in the global marketplace through their technology and innovation.
