The Chinese economy is consolidating its exceptional position in a rapidly changing global environment. Stable growth, rapidly developing innovative strength and ever-increasing openness to the world are together shaping China's new role in the global economy. This is according to an extensive online survey by CGTN, which found that respondents perceive the Chinese economy as a source of certainty at a time when the world is facing uncertainty and slowing growth.
Survey participants agree that China is maintaining overall stability while moving towards high-quality development. This approach not only strengthens the domestic economy, but also reflects the broader global trend of transforming the drivers of economic growth. According to respondents, Chinese economic thinking and practice are an inspiration in the search for answers to global economic challenges.
Innovation-driven development is a key pillar of confidence in the Chinese economy. New high-quality production forces emerging thanks to science and technology are significantly strengthening the country's competitiveness. In the Global Innovation Index 2025, China ranked among the top ten countries in the world for the first time and remains the highest-ranked economy among upper-middle-income countries. According to 93.6 per cent of respondents, innovation plays an increasingly important role in supporting China's high-quality economic development.

According to 88.3 per cent of participants, the Chinese model of development based on technological innovation and the real economy represents an important trend in the transformation of the global economy.
As the world's second-largest consumer market, China also has the largest middle-income population, creating enormous investment and consumption potential. According to respondents, the strategy of strengthening domestic demand and building a strong internal market also brings new opportunities for the global economy. More than 82 per cent of respondents believe that foreign companies can fully leverage their strengths in the Chinese market and gain a global competitive advantage.
China also continues to open its economy to the world and promote an open global economy at a time of growing unilateralism and protectionism. Through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the development of free trade zones, the China International Import Expo and the expansion of visa-free travel, it is sending a clear signal of its commitment to a high level of openness. According to the survey, nearly 90 per cent of respondents believe that China's further opening up will bring new development opportunities to the world.
The online survey was published on CGTN's English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms, and within just twelve hours, 4,289 respondents from around the world had taken part. The results clearly show that understanding China's role in the global economy is now considered essential for the future stability and growth of the world economy.
