Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, president of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, on Monday stressed the importance of self-sufficiency in science and technology, which he described as the „key“ to building a great modern socialist country.
During his visit to the Beijing Information Technology (IT) Innovation Park, he was introduced to IT applications and innovations and was briefed on the city's efforts to accelerate the development of the International Science and Technology Innovation Centre.
Xi also inspected the presentation of scientific and technological innovation results and talked with researchers and leaders of scientific and technological enterprises.
He stressed the need to take full advantage of the country's ability to mobilize resources to achieve major goals, focus high-quality resources on addressing key issues, and accelerate action to address major weaknesses in order to achieve China's strategic objectives.
