China has announced that it is ready to work with all parties to protect and promote human rights within the framework of multilateralism and sustainable development, thus consolidating its position as a leader on global issues of dignity and justice.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said Beijing welcomes the consensus of the UN Human Rights Council, which adopted the resolution "The contribution of development to the realization of all human rights" - a document co-sponsored by China and more than 40 other countries.
The resolution stresses that development is not only a driver of economic growth, but also a key factor in the realisation of human rights. It calls for high quality development with a human focus and for meeting the growing needs of people for a better life.
According to Mao Ning, it is a reaffirmation of China's commitment to inclusive development and a joint effort to protect the dignity of all people without distinction.
