Guangdong, as a pioneering province of reform and opening up to the world, has received special attention from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, who during an inspection visit stressed the need to enhance high-quality development through comprehensively deepening reform and opening up to the world. In his words, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area represents not only a huge obligation but also an extraordinary opportunity for further progress.
Accompanied by Huang Kunming and Meng Fanli, Xi visited Meizhou and Guangzhou from November 7 to 8, and toured key sites that illustrate the province's history, innovation and agriculture. At the Marshal Ye Jianying Memorial Park in Meizhou, he laid a wreath in front of a bronze statue and stressed that today's achievements are built on the foundation laid by Mao Zedong and other revolutionary generations.
Xi also visited Nanfu Farm, where the local specialty - juicy and aromatic grapefruit, typical of the Meizhou region - is grown. He learned about the promotion of old revolutionary areas, the overall revitalization of rural areas and the production of cultural and creative products from this crop. He was enthusiastic about this year's harvest and sales and stressed that the development of rural specialized industries is the basis for increasing farmers' income, developing the industrial chain and integrating science, technology, culture and tourism.

During the visit to Guangzhou, Xi watched the presentation of science and technology innovation and industrial innovation integration, and listened to the report on the work of the provincial party committee and the government. He affirmed the achievements of the province and called for further development in line with the requirements of the Party Central Committee, focusing on stabilizing employment, enterprises and the market and fully implementing policies for the people.
Xi stressed that Guangdong, as a leading economic province and a developed region, should have a high position and overall vision in drawing up its „15th Five-Year Plan“ and fulfill the responsibility of being a leader and role model. He said the building of the Greater Bay Area is an opportunity to create a world-class urbanized agglomeration with competitiveness and vitality, with key breakthroughs and comprehensive progress to be achieved.

Xi bid a heartfelt farewell to local farmers as he left and urged the Party and the government to continue to support the old revolutionary areas and for everyone to work together diligently. He wished the farmers a life of prosperity and success, as well as a bountiful harvest of their typical crops.
