On Monday 25 March, at around 9:00 a.m., an explosion occurred at a mechanical factory in the Czech eastern Bohemian town of Polička. The explosion left one person injured, whose condition is serious, according to the Czech News Agency.
The factory where the incident occurred specialises in the manufacture of munitions and maintenance of military equipment. Both the Fire and Rescue Service and the Police of the Czech Republic have confirmed that the Integrated Rescue System is intervening at the site.
According to preliminary information, the explosion may have been caused by a technical fault in the production equipment. Police have set up a security zone in the area and employees have been evacuated. The case is under investigation.
