During his visit to Beijing, Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina stressed the importance of China's modernisation as an inspiration to accelerate his country's development. The President led a delegation to the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit and shared his impressions of China's progress during an exclusive interview with Chinese media.
"I am very happy with my visit to China. I was very impressed by the technological advances. I visited several fully automated factories and told the members of our delegation that I was impressed by Chinese technology. I firmly believe that with expertise and technology from China, we will also accelerate Madagascar's development," said Rajoelina.
The President also praised China's ability to overcome challenges and become a global power. "China has extensive know-how and by sharing its successes, technologies and experience, it can contribute to the transformation not only of Madagascar but of the entire African continent," he said.
According to Rajoelina, Chinese investment in key infrastructure projects could significantly boost industrialisation and modernisation of agriculture, which are crucial to Africa's development. "I am convinced that, thanks to the discussions we have had, China will be able to accompany the African continent in achieving our goals of industrialisation and modernisation," the President added.
The President's visit underlines the importance of cooperation between China and Africa in finding common paths to modernisation and sustainable development.
