FRANCE - Agora / Lucie Castets, the candidate of the four parties of the New Popular Front (NFP), spoke on Friday before a large and attentive audience at the Agora de l'Humanité, mainly to undermine the narrative put forward by Emmanuel Macron. She reiterated the line taken by her entourage and her ministers in resignation, stressing that Macron did not appoint Lucia Castets to Matignon because the left would immediately condemn her.
The NFP candidate stated that she is "incorrect to say that the NFP has not reached out to other forces". The government's NFP will have to "making deals in parliament, text by text," reminded Lucie Castetsová. The aim is to restore the value of the parliament, which "has been relegated to second place in our democratic life in recent years".
Lucie Castets did not gloss over the difficulties caused by the decision of the head of state, Emmanuel Macron, to reach out to the minority force in the House, the LR, to form a government that is likely to announced next week . Incidentally, she recalled that the appointment of Michel Barnier to Matignon "Emmanuel Macron has turned to the person who refused to embody the Republican front at the time of the parliamentary elections".
The candidate also mentioned the contempt shown towards the NFP at the highest level and revealed that "the only person who refused to answer me, even informally, was Gabriel Attal", former Prime Minister.
As for the RN, "we have to confront it with its contradictions (...) The RN programme means 50 billion less revenue for the state. How can public services be financed in this way?"
The candidate, who has not yet been called by Emmanuel Macron, assured the audience at the agora that she is not giving up. At the summer universities of the four NFP parties, which she attended, Lucie Castets said she was "struck by the desire for unity expressed by activists of all parties".
Better still, if the NFP government was "stronger thanks to union mobilisation". Call for youth organisations "to face Macron's putsch" a "to get the government to stop its authoritarian tendencies" of 7 September assessed the CGT favourably without formally calling for it.
The CFDT intends to stay out of the debate and will not join the demonstrations on 1 October alongside the CGT and Solidaires, which will demand in particular the abolition of the pension reform.
