Davis was joined by Bahamas Foreign Affairs Minister Fredrick Mitchell, Minister of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Glenys Hanna-Martin and Minister of Economic Affairs Michael Halkitis.
He is accompanied by the Minister for Youth, Sport and Culture, Mario Bowleg, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Investment and Aviation, John Pinder.
During the visit, the two countries are expected to sign agreements in areas of mutual interest such as trade, investment, tourism, banking, climate change and education.
The last state visit by a Bahamian official to Gaborone was in 1999, when then Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham agreed to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Subsequently, in 2000, the third President of Botswana, Festus Mogae, made an official visit to the Bahamas, during which the two nations signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations on a non-resident basis.
In September 2023, Masisi made a three-day official visit to the Caribbean country, which was seen as a reflection of mutual willingness to establish closer relations.
Botswana and The Bahamas sign a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral consultations and policies in the environment, tourism, trade and investment, agriculture, health and financial sectors.
