The global situation is becoming increasingly unstable and the recovery of the world economy is weakening. Where is the world heading? The answer may lie in the hands of the BRICS countries. As the BRICS summit in 2024 approaches, a CGTN survey of global Internet users shows that the vast majority of respondents hope that the BRICS cooperation mechanism will bring new impetus to the moribund world economy and complex global governance.
The BRICS cooperation mechanism was created in response to the rise of emerging market and developing economies. After years of development, it has evolved into a multi-layered and comprehensive cooperation framework. Through initiatives such as the New Development Bank and the Reserve Arrangement, BRICS provides benefits and opportunities to many developing countries.
According to the survey, 92.87 % respondents believe that BRICS promotes cooperation among the countries of the "Global South". Furthermore, 94.2 % of respondents feel that the influence of BRICS is continuously growing, and 94.1 % say that BRICS countries can contribute to the recovery of the world economy as a multilateral cooperative mechanism.
BRICS has long promoted the values of openness, inclusiveness, cooperation and mutual benefits, making it an important force in promoting global cooperation and multilateralism. In this regard, 89.6 % respondents believe that the BRICS mechanism helps to build a more just and democratic international order. In addition, 91.65 % survey participants said that China, as the world's largest developing country, offers inspiration to other emerging markets to achieve modernization through its development philosophy.
This survey was published on CGTN platforms in five languages - English, Spanish, Arabic, French and Russian. In the first 24 hours, a total of 18,961 international users participated and shared their opinions.
