LONDON, 26 January. /TASS/. Britain's King Charles III has been hospitalized for a planned medical procedure for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace has announced.
"The King was admitted to a London hospital this morning for elective treatment. His Majesty would like to thank everyone who has sent him their well wishes over the past week and is pleased that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on health awareness," the 75-year-old monarch's office said.
The head of state had earlier returned to London from Sandringham in Norfolk, East Anglia.
The fact that Charles III will need surgery was revealed last week. It was also announced that His Majesty's neoplasm is benign and the procedure itself will be corrective. The King's public duties have been postponed for the short time needed for his recovery.
The King was hospitalised at a private hospital in the Westminster area, where the wife of the monarch's eldest son William, Prince of Wales, 42-year-old Kate, Princess of Wales, is now recovering from surgery. She underwent abdominal surgery on 16 January and is expected to spend around two weeks in hospital.
