The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed on Tuesday that multipolarisation is a fundamental trend in today's world and an unstoppable trend of the times.
Spokesperson for the State Department Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press conference in response to media inquiries about the recent Munich Security Conference report.
The report noted that the world is at the beginning of an increasingly multipolar era, with China being the most prominent proponent of the new multipolar order and advocating an equal and orderly multipolar world. It also stressed that the Chinese people widely believe that multipolarity promotes peace and prosperity.
"China is committed to an equal and orderly multipolar world along with a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization," Guo said, adding that the country is committed to practicing true multilateralism.
He reiterated that China seeks greater democracy in international relations and calls on countries around the world to jointly safeguard the purpose and principles of the UN Charter, uphold justice and fairness, and play a constructive role in resolving international and regional hot-button issues.
Guo stressed that the country is pushing forward win-win cooperation and firmly promoting its own high-quality development, and said China continues to open up at a high level, promoting trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, while ensuring the stable and smooth course of global industrial and supply chains. In recent years, China has been the biggest driver of global economic growth, accounting for about 30 per cent of it.
"The world faces many challenges today. Closer cooperation is all the more important for countries around the world," said the spokesman.
He expressed China's willingness to work with all parties to follow the trend of the times, share opportunities, overcome challenges and jointly promote development, build a community with a shared future for mankind and make greater contributions to safeguarding and promoting world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
