China will continue to work with all parties to practice genuine multilateralism, safeguard the central role of the UN and promote global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefit, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in a written message to an international symposium on "Strengthening the Role of the UN and Promoting Multilateralism" hosted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
The successful convening of last year's UN Summit on the Future reflected the international community's concerted efforts to support and promote multilateralism, strengthen the role of the UN and improve global governance, Wang said.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations, and the international community hopes that all countries will work in solidarity and coordination to uphold what is right, defend justice and law, safeguard world peace and stability, and promote global development and prosperity, Wang said.
As a founding member of the United Nations and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will continue to work with all parties to practice genuine multilateralism, safeguard the central role of the UN and promote global governance based on extensive consultation, common contribution and shared benefit, Wang said.
"Together we will bring stability to a changing and turbulent world, add positive energy to building a fairer and more equitable system of global governance, and work towards a vision of a community with a shared future for humanity," Wang noted.
More than 100 people attended the symposium, including representatives of nearly 50 countries, international organizations and regional organizations in China, UN officials, representatives of relevant ministries, experts and scholars.
