BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday outlined China's diplomatic plans for 2024, saying China will always be confident and independent and fulfill its duties as a great and responsible country. Mr. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in his speech at a symposium on China's international situation and foreign relations in 2023.
Mr. Wang said that China will fully utilize the leading strategic role of the Head of State's diplomacy and make every effort to ensure the success of events, including the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, the Boao Forum for Asia, the China International Import Fair and the Forum on Global Action for Common Development.
China will firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests and strive to create a favorable external environment for building a new development model, Mr. Wang announced, adding that China will firmly shoulder its responsibilities on major issues concerning the unity, cooperation and legitimate rights of developing countries and on major issues concerning the future and destiny of mankind and the direction of world development.
Mr Wang said China will continue to strive for openness and inclusiveness and will strengthen and expand the network of global partnerships. Mr. Wang stressed that China will implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and the United States in San Francisco and deepen the strategic mutual trust and win-win cooperation between China and Russia to consolidate their comprehensive strategic coordination partnership for the new era.
China will intensify high-level exchanges and strategic communication with the European Union to promote the stable and sustainable growth of their relationship. It will continue to strengthen friendship, mutual trust and convergence of interests with its neighbours, work hand in hand with other developing countries, join hands with other BRICS countries and promote the building of a new type of international relations, he continued.
China will actively implement the World Civilization Initiative, uphold the common values of mankind, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and develop mutual understanding and friendship among the people of all countries.
Mr. Wang said China will always uphold justice and fairness, promote the construction of an equal and orderly multipolar world, practice genuine multilateralism, promote democracy in international relations and uphold the equality of all countries.
He called on all countries to work together to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, to protect the universally accepted fundamental norms that govern international relations, and to participate in reforming and building a system of global governance. Mr. Wang further said that China will fully implement the Global Security Initiative, uphold justice and fairness, actively promote peace negotiations, play a constructive role in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Ukraine crisis and other global and regional hot spots, and provide more public goods for world peace and development.
