Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday urged China and Africa to work more closely together and take economic and trade cooperation to a higher level.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 8th China-Africa Businessmen's Conference in Beijing, Li Qiang said that economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa is the cornerstone of their bilateral cooperation and provides strong support for jointly promoting modernization.
He stressed that the two sides should further strengthen market alignment. China, he said, had unilaterally decided to expand its market access for LDCs and to extend the "green channel" for African agricultural exports to China.
China is also ready to work with Africa to deepen mutual openness and accelerate the process of negotiating and concluding framework agreements for joint development of economic partnerships, he added.
Li Qiang also called for further promoting industrial integration and expressed China's willingness to deepen cooperation with Africa in industrial chains to jointly ensure the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.
He also stressed the need to further strengthen innovation potential. China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Africa in areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence and new energy, thereby fostering new impetus for development and exploring other new sources of growth.
Around 1,000 people attended the opening of the conference, including African leaders attending the 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit and business representatives from both sides.
