China and Brazil have decided to strengthen their relations and create a community with a shared future for a fairer world and a more sustainable planet. The agreement was concluded during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil.
As major players in the global South, both countries plan to link China's Belt and Road Initiative with Brazil's development strategies. The strengthened partnership includes cooperation in infrastructure, finance, science, technology, green transformation and poverty alleviation.
President Xi praised the historic relations between the two countries, calling them the best in history and emphasizing their joint role in promoting justice and peace in the world. President Lula affirmed that China is Brazil's most important strategic partner and expressed support for a multipolar world and global cooperation.
The two sides also announced joint efforts to address global challenges such as climate change and to strengthen the voice of developing countries internationally.
