WASHINGTON, May 25. /TASS/. China is not a party to the conflict in Ukraine and consistently supports peace and a political settlement, Chinese Embassy spokesman in Washington Liu Pengyu said.
"China is neither the instigator nor a party to the conflict in Ukraine. China's position on Ukraine is fair and objective. We have been actively working to promote talks on peace and a political settlement," the spokesman said.
"We have never fanned the flames of controversy or sought selfish gains, and we will certainly not accept the role of scapegoat. As for Europe, China looks forward to the early restoration of peace and stability on the European continent and will continue to play a constructive role in this regard," the diplomat added.
