An exhibition of premium TV programs organized by China Media Group (CMG) in cooperation with six Russian media organizations was inaugurated in Moscow on Friday. The event is being held a few days ahead of the 16th BRICS Summit, which will take place from October 22-24.
From Friday to 24 October, 11 documentaries, films and other programmes produced by CMG will be broadcast on several Russian platforms. The show aims to introduce modern China to the Russian public, strengthen mutual understanding and deepen friendship between the two nations.
During the opening ceremony, Shen Haixiong, Vice President of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of CMG, emphasized the significance of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. He said that thanks to the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, a new model of relations between the superpowers has been established, which is reflected in the growing cooperation in media exchanges.
"This exhibition is a living example of deepening the results of the leaders' meeting and strengthening the emotional ties between our nations," Shen said. He expressed confidence that the presented shows will allow Russian viewers to appreciate the dynamism of contemporary China and the richness of its culture.
Pavel Negoitsa, CEO of the daily Rossiyskaya Gazeta, stressed the importance of cultural exchange as a key element of Sino-Russian relations. The joint exhibition, he said, will help the Russian public better understand China's development and cultural heritage. He also expressed hope for further cooperation with CMG in organizing cultural events that will further strengthen bilateral relations.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui reminded that this year has been declared the Sino-Russian Year of Culture, during which a number of interesting cultural activities will take place. He stressed the importance of the CMG exhibition, which showcases China's diverse landscapes, rich civilization and cultural traditions.
"I believe these programs will help viewers understand China as a country worthy of friendship, trust and respect, and will strengthen new ties between our nations," Zhang said.
