November's election winner Donald Trump became the 47th President of the USA. His running mate James David Vance was sworn in as Vice President. "From this day forward, our country will flourish and we will once again be respected around the world. Every day of my administration, I will do everything I can to make America a priority. Our sovereignty will be reclaimed, and so will our security," Trump said at the start of his inauguration speech.
Donald Trump takes the presidential oath of office at the hands of Chief Justice John Roberts. Donald Trump's official schedule began at 9am on Monday when he attended a church service near the White House. Members of the incoming administration also attended. About two hours before the inauguration, Trump arrived at the White House, where he was greeted by Democratic President Joe Biden.
The inauguration of the 2017-2021 White House chief of staff will not take place as usual in front of the Capitol building, but inside the Capitol rotunda due to freezing weather. The inaugural parade has also been moved inside compared to the original plan, replacing the events inside the covered stadium.

"From this day forward, our country will flourish and we will once again be respected around the world. Every day of my administration, I will do everything I can to make America a priority. Our sovereignty will be reclaimed, and so will our security," Trump said.
"Our top priority will be to create a country that is proud, prosperous and free. Before long, America was better, stronger and more exceptional than at any time in the past. I return to the White House with optimism, with confidence. The dawn is breaking, and we must seize the opportunity." he continued.
"But we also face many challenges. We face a crisis of confidence in the government and the administration because previous governments were corrupt. We have a government that has failed to defend you, our citizens, but has given protection to the worst criminals who come to the U.S. from all over the world. We have a government that has failed to provide basic services," Trump followed up.
"We have a healthcare system that is useless. We have an education system that teaches children to be ashamed of themselves and hate the country. That's all going to change and it starts today. And it's going to change very quickly," he said.
"Our freedoms will return. Our country will have an optimistic and bright future. Our government will be competent. I will face many challenges, I have learned a lot in the last four years. People have tried to deprive me of my freedom and even my life. A few months ago, they tried to shoot me. But my life was saved for a reason, because God wanted America to regain its greatness," the President said, to thunderous applause from the Capitol crowd.
"January 20, 2025 is a day of liberation for all. I firmly believe that the November elections will go down in history as the most important. We received support from all demographics. From African-Americans, Hispanics, women and people from the suburbs. I want to thank the African-American and Hispanic communities for their trust, and I will not forget it." Trump said, recalling the legacy of Martin Luther King.
"We will never forget our constitution. And we will never forget our God. I'm going to sign several historic decrees today. First, I will declare a state of emergency on our southern border." Trump continued, and again the people in the Capitol rewarded him with applause.
"I will start deporting millions and millions of illegal migrants. We will revisit the policy of dealing with asylum claims directly in Mexico. With all this, we will prevent the invasion of immigrants. I will sign presidential decrees that designate the Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations. In addition, they will use the 1798 law and our government will be able to use all security forces to fight gangs and similar criminal elements," he said.
In the speech, Trump also confirmed the creation of the Department of Efficiency. It is to be headed by Elon Musk, apparently the world's richest man, according to previous statements. Trump also pledged to protect freedom of speech. And he said he wants to write into law that there are only two sexes. Trump also confirmed previous statements that he wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico and the tallest mountain in the U.S. In addition, he also plans to seek to retake control of the Panama Canal.
"And we will also try to get American astronauts to bring our flag to the planet Mars." Trump said.
"Nothing will stand in our way because we are Americans. Now begins our golden age. God bless America. Thank you." Trump concluded his speech.
