On Tuesday, at 11.00 a.m., Ukrainian President Zelensky will address members of the European Parliament from Ukraine at a special plenary session to mark the 1,000 days since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will make a statement at the start of the extraordinary session, after which President Zelensky will address MEPs via a live video link from Ukraine. This will be followed by the leaders of the political groups.
Since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the EU and Parliament have strongly supported the country by condemning Russian aggression, imposing sanctions and increasing political, humanitarian, military and financial aid to Kiev.
Parliament has also been a keen supporter of Ukraine's EU accession efforts and has repeatedly called on EU Member States to open accession talks. In addition, MEPs have strongly stated that Russia must financially compensate for the damage it has caused in Ukraine and argue that the EU should use Moscow's confiscated state assets to do so.
Here is the (incomplete) list resolutions on Ukraine adopted by Members of the European Parliament from 2021.
You can watch the extraordinary plenary session live on Web site Parliament or at EbS+.
