Emerging global trends such as geopolitical tensions, the digital revolution and climate change are reshaping trade-led development, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) said in a report published on Monday.
But the report also highlighted the new opportunities that these global trends bring. For example, developing economies can reduce the cost of doing business through digitalisation, embrace service-led growth, or seize the demand for renewable resources as part of a global green transformation to achieve development.
The report also called for better coordination between international organisations, as this could help exploit synergies between trade policies and complementary policies and strengthen inclusiveness across and within economies.
