Deputy Secretary Campbell, along with Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer and Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, traveled to Houston, Texas, to review the significant progress made in U.S.-India space cooperation in recent months and discuss next steps to further advance our bilateral space partnership.
The officials met representatives of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), including two ISRO astronauts who are at NASA's Johnson Space Centre preparing to join the proposed mission to the International Space Station in 2025. They also discussed plans to launch the jointly developed NAS-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar Earth Science (NISAR) satellite in 2025. The leaders also met with representatives from the private sector space industry to explore innovative ways to strengthen the U.S. and Indian commercial space sectors.
