(Frekvence 1) Defence Minister Jana Černochová has accepted an invitation to the Press Club. She revealed her position on the war conflict in Ukraine, whether the Czech Republic will help the invaded country and also talked about what she thinks will be the further development of the ongoing war.
The end of the Second World War was the opening topic of my interview with Jana Černochová. Čestmír Strakatý asked the Defence Minister what the date of 8 May, or Victory Day, means to her. "It is traditionally commemorated at Vítkov. First, a commemorative act takes place from ten o'clock and then together, including the army, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President, we go to lay flowers and wreaths at the tomb of the unknown soldier," She revealed Cernochova with the annual ceremony at Prague Castle to award the general's rank. "It's not only for the army, but also for the security forces, it's a solemn day," She added.
War in Ukraine
"Every rational person who does not want war and wants peace must stand on the side of Ukraine and help." said the Minister of Defence Cernochova and continued: "The war in Ukraine has been going on for two and a half years, of course the people on the front are frustrated that aid from America has not come for a long time, and we as Europe have not been able to increase our production capacity for ammunition, military material as such, so the Czech Republic has tried to take advantage of the opportunity to help Ukraine, for example with an ammunition initiative."
When will Ukraine receive the Czech Munitions Initiative?
Moderator Čestmír Strakatý stopped by the topic of the Czech Republic's ammunition initiative. He wondered when he would actually visit Ukraine. "The ammunition will largely reach Ukraine sometime before June.Of course, I can't specify whether they are holding anything directly, but in any case, the supplies of military material are flowing there regardless of the Czech initiative." Answered by Cernochova. According to her, the situation in Ukraine is not rosy, but she still sees the outcome as positive.
"If we consider how many years the Second World War lasted, how many countries were involved in the Second World War, and we ask ourselves what it looked like with some hopes in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1942, 43, when the assassination of the acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich took place, people probably didn't believe in an early end to the war then either, so I see it as a war conflict with all the elements," explained her position to the Minister of Defence Cernochova adding that everything must be done to ensure that Ukraine has military superiority and the war ends.
